Today, children are bombarded with unhealthy lifestyles and diets. Often dependent on junk and processed foods that are readily available everywhere, making them susceptible to a variety of diseases. If you don’t guide them to a healthy diet, they can end up obese at an early age.


Nutrition must be our first priority. Development and growth depend on what they eat, and an unbalanced diet would be a disaster for their health. As parents, it is our responsibility to take care of their health with proper food guidance. Below are basic nutrition guidelines that you should consider implementing your child’s eating program.


The right foods for your baby


The first group of foods should be high in protein as they help to form the building blocks of the body that make up the healthy growth of the body. Protein comes mainly from milk, vegetables such as beans, legumes, nuts, and meat products such as white meat, fish, eggs, and chicken. Keep your children a steady supply of protein to keep their body normal.


Carbohydrates are another important part of your child’s health. It mainly provides energy in the form of calories and supplies the body with fiber, vitamins and minerals. Carbohydrate-rich foods include whole grains, red rice, oatmeal, bran, beans, fruits such as grapes, apples, pears, oranges, and more.


Next, we need good fats for our children. Good fats are not harmful to your child’s health unlike saturated fats, which are mainly derived from animal fats and can cause weight gain and heart disease. Good fats are good for the body, help nourish the brain and supply energy to the body. Foods that contain good fats include salmon, seeds, nuts, olive oil, fish and many more. Make sure you feed your child good fats, not saturated or hydrogenated fats.


The main food group are vitamins and minerals. These are apparently derived from vegetables and fruits that are high in fiber and antioxidants. Remember that our children need enough vitamin K, A, E, C, D, B complex and minerals such as potassium, sodium, iron, manganese, magnesium and many more. By educating your child to eat fruits and vegetables, you will increase his or her immune system from a variety of viral diseases and health conditions.


In summary, these food groups help your child achieve optimal health and fitness as he or she grows up. With proper socialization and physical exercise, childhood obesity is not a threat to your child’s health. Also, be sure to keep them hydrated by teaching them to drink enough water a day.
